SIVASAGAR: The Vigilance Cell of the Chief Minister launched coordinated raids on three properties belonging to Ashwini Kumar Doley, the Chief Executive Officer of a District Council, on the morning of January 4. This is part of an ongoing probe into allegations that the official has amassed disproportionate assets.
The properties searched are Doley's government residence in Sivasagar, his ancestral home in Dhemaji, and his private property in Panjabari, Guwahati. All these steps form a sequel to earlier investigations of Doley's tenure and financial activities that had raised suspicions over alleged misconduct and misuse of funds.
Ashwini Kumar Doley, who began his administrative career in Sivasagar in 2009, has faced several allegations over the years. Among them are claims of embezzling crores of rupees under the guise of organizing the Disang Festival. Additionally, Doley is accused of demanding bribes from contractors in exchange for granting developmental project contracts.
The investigation of the Vigilance Cell is to try and find whether there were some anomalies or illegitimate financial gains made during Doley's tenure of service. Investigation is still being carried out; however, up to now, no further reports have been brought forth by the authorities regarding results of the raids.
Further updates on the investigation and the findings from the raids are awaited as the authorities continue their inquiry into the matter.
