GUWAHATI: The Assam College Teachers’ Association (ACTA) has issued a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) to guide its members on the boycott of Gunotsav 2025, scheduled to begin across the state on February 6. The boycott decision stems from the government’s failure to address the long-pending issues faced by college teachers.

As per the SOP, ACTA’s central committee has directed all 21 regional units to send copies of a memorandum, previously submitted to the Mission Director, to their respective district commissioners and district mission coordinators. Additionally, the central body will notify all student organizations across Assam about the boycott through formal communication.

Each teachers’ group will hold discussions with the student unions of their respective colleges to inform them about the ongoing protest. The presidents and secretaries of the college-level groups are to maintain regular communication with their respective regional unit leaders to ensure seamless coordination.

In case of any unforeseen challenges, the SOP directs the groups to escalate the matter to the contact persons as designated by the central committee. The responsibilities will be distributed among the officials of the central committee according to the regional units so that the protest can be handled effectively.

All the college groups are mandated to inform their principals about their protest schedule and the memorandum submitted to the Additional Mission Director.

The central committee has asserted that it will take full responsibility for defending its members against any disciplinary actions initiated by the administration in response to the boycott.
