Assam: Collision Between Two Vehicles Kill 5 Persons In Baihata

Guwahati: A road accident has claimed the lives of 5 people at Baihata in the district of Kamrup (R) in Assam.

As per reports, two people had died on the spot while the other three had succumbed to their injuries at Gauhati Medical College and Hospital where they were declared dead. 

The accident occurred on Friday night after an ambulance and a tempo had a head-on collision at Bihdia in Baihata. 

The names of the victims have been revealed as Bimala Bodo, Bileswari Brahma, Toofan Bodo, Bogita Bodo and Uttam Rajbongshi.

In other news, a noted Nagara Naam exponent, Golak Rajbangshi (45), had died in a road accident at Nagrujuli on the Tamulpur-Nagrijuli-Udalguri road at around 3.30 pm on Monday.

Late Golak Rajbangshi is the son of late Kanthi Rajbangshi, a resident of Sahpur Village under Nagrijuli Police Out Post in Baksa district. The deceased, Golak, was a driver by profession.

The car (AS-25-CC-6734) was on its way to Tamulpur from Naglijuli Market. When it crossed the bridge over Balti River near Nagrijuli, the vehicle hit the railing. The impact was so much that the vehicle overturned on the road. In the accident, Golak Rajbangshi, who was occupying the driver's seat, got out of the car on the road. However, Golak body was crushed by the overturned car as it landed right on his body. As a result, Golak died on the spot.
