KOKRAJHAR: A district-level coordination meeting aimed at strengthening emergency preparedness was recently held at the conference hall of the Deputy Commissioner’s office in Kokrajhar.
The meeting was chaired by Deputy Commissioner Masanda M. Pertin and brought together key stakeholders, including representatives from the police, health department, civil defence, and other relevant agencies. The main objective of the meeting was to assess the district’s preparedness for emergency situations and to reinforce disaster management strategies in line with the guidelines issued by the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA).
During the meeting, participants engaged in detailed discussions focused on improving inter-departmental coordination to ensure a swift and effective response during times of crisis. Emphasis was placed on developing integrated communication channels and proactive planning to manage emergencies efficiently.
A significant portion of the meeting was dedicated to reviewing security measures. Plans were made to conduct blackout drills across various revenue circles in the district, aimed at enhancing the preparedness and responsiveness of both authorities and the general public.
Deputy Commissioner Pertin called on all stakeholders to remain alert and to activate field-level officials to ensure the readiness of communities across Kokrajhar. He highlighted the importance of a collective approach to disaster response and encouraged collaborative efforts to protect the district from potential calamities.
The meeting concluded with a shared commitment among all departments and agencies to reinforce emergency response capabilities and ensure the safety and resilience of the district.
