GUWAHATI: According to reports that surfaced on Thursday, a lower court has ordered a hold on the release of Ravi Sharma's upcoming Assamese film "Sri Raghupati."

A stay order was issued by the Kamrup (M) District & Sessions Judge Court in response to allegations of contract violations with former producer Suruj Sarma.

After hearing the case, the Metropolitan Magistrates Court ruled to postpone the release of the film "Sri Raghupati," according to sources.

Meanwhile, the movie, which is set to release in theatres on June 2, relased its trailer on May 12, 2023.

Ravi Sharma, Preety Kongana, Priyam Pallavi, Sidhartha Sarma, Arun Nath, Arun Hazarika, Rina Bora, Raj Sharma, Bornali Pujari, Seema Baruah, Sanjiv Burhagohain, Kukil Saikia, Manjit Sharma, and Sumki Kachari all play significant roles in the film.

After the release of its trailer, Sri Raghupati was hailed for ushering in a new era for Assamese cinema that is more in line with India's popular films, complete with a fascinating plot, high-octane action, and riveting cinematography, VFX effects, and soundtrack.

Sri Raghupati, dubbed an ambitious undertaking, while, actor Ravi, who has appeared in notable films such as Hiya Diya Niya, Nayak, Kokadeutar Gharjonwai, Barood, Tumi Aahibane, and most recently Black N White, as well as being a part of the state's well-known mobile theatre, spoke to the media about the arrival of big-budget movies in Assam and said, “With Sri Raghupati, we boosted our efforts three times over what we had planned to spend on the production of this movie."

The story of Ragupati revolves around, Raghupati Rai Baruah, an ACS officer renowned for his honesty and diligence, is the main character in the story of the movie. He makes a hasty trip to look for missing women. He comes into a network of women traffickers while doing the investigation, which raises additional concerns.

Recently, the love song ‘Tumi Aru Moi’, the first track from Sri Raghupati, was released. The song featured Ravi and Preety, it is sung by Zubeen Garg and Deeplina Deka.
