Kokrajhar: Kokrajhar's D.N.H. High School has been declared as a containment zone after the Principal and staff of the school tested positive for COVID-19 on Thursday.
The Kokrajhar administration has restricted the entry and exit points of the school after they tested positive. Also, the movement of people and vehicles within the area has been strictly prohibited. Read more
The school has been sealed for an imprecise period.
The declaration has been ordered by the district magistrate, who is also the chairman of the District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA).
According to the order by the DC Office, Kokrajhar, the entire campus of the school has been sealed and along with the prohibition of movement of population and vehicles, all statutory and other directions regarding maintenance of social distancing will be strictly enforced.Read more
Meanwhile, in Assam, as many as 1,931 fresh COVID-19 cases have been recorded in Assam on Thursday (April 22) taking the total tally of cases to 2.31 lakh. Kamrup Metro continues to be the worst affected COVID district in the state with 680 new cases followed by Dibrugarh at 143, Kamrup Rural at 136, and Nagaon at 103. The positivity rate stands at 2.63%, and even though the positivity rate remains to be low, health officials said they fear fresh Covid cases may go up further if Covid protocol is not sincerely followed. 10 cases of fatalities were reported from the state with 3 from Kamrup Metro, 2 from Karbi Anglong and 1 each from Barpeta, Dibrugarh, Karimganj, Sonitpur, and Tinsukia. India broke its previous day's record with the highest single-day spike of 3.32 lakh fresh cases of the novel coronavirus. 2,263 COVID-induced deaths have been reported from across the country taking the total tally of deaths so far to 1.86 lakh. The number of active caseloads in the country amounts to 24.22 lakh taking the total tally of caseload to 1.62 crores.
