KOKRAJHAR: P Sivakumar, Member Secretary and CEO of the Central Silk Board (CSB), visited the Muga Eri Silkworm Seed Organization, Central Silk Board, P3 Unit, Kowabil in Kokrajhar on Wednesday.
Dr NK Bhatia, Director, MESSO, Guwahati, Anjan Chakrabarty, Director of Sericulture, BTC, Dr Bidyut Nath Choudhury, Scientist-D, MESSO, Guwahati, Nagesh S, Assistant Secretary (Tech) from RO, Guwahati, Dr Rajiv Munshi, Scientist-D (R&S) and Nishant Singhal, Scientist-B (R&S) from RSTRS, Guwahati, along with a team and officials of Director of Sericulture, Kokrajhar, accompanied the team in the visit. The visit aimed at the overall inspection of the unit and monitoring of the ongoing activities. Unit in-charge, Dr Suraksha Chanotra, Scientist-B and in-charge P3 unit of Kowabil, along with her team showcased the ongoing grainage and rearing activities to the officials. They also had an overview of the ongoing farm management practices. P Sivakumar, Member Secretary & CEO of the Central Silk Board, also planted Som and Soalu saplings at the unit. The visit concluded with a fruitful discussion on planning strategies for enhanced dfls production at the unit level, close coordination between Director of Sericulture (DoS) and CSB unit, increasing the number of Adopted Seed Rearers and Registered Seed Producers under the unit and increasing the overall production target for strengthening of the Muga Silk Industry.
