NAGAON: A robbery occurred at the Pinakpani Resort and Restaurant, a family dhaba, at the Barhampur area under the Itachali police outpost in Nagaon district. As per reports, a group of armed robbers, with their faces covered, entered the resort and tied up the owner, Pitambar Saikia, and one of his employees. The robbers demanded money and took away cash, a monitor from the CCTV, and other valuables. According to reports, the robbers, who spoke in Hindi, threatened Saikia and his employee with pistols and sharp objects. The police launched an investigation into the incident, but no arrests have been made so far. It is worth noting that Pitambar Saikia, the owner of the resort, is a former student leader and a leader of the Asom Gana Parishad (AGP). The incident caused concern among the people of Nagaon, as cases of theft and robbery have been on the rise in the area.
