HAFLONG: Observing World Heritage Day 2025, the Department of Archaeology, Dima Hasao, organized a field visit and awareness programme at the Hojai Dobongling Archaeological Site in the Dihangi MAC constituency on Friday. The day began with participants, including scholars and students, assembling at the DHAC parking area in Haflong and departing for the site. Upon arrival, they were introduced to the archaeological significance of Hojai Dobongling village, followed by an enriching site survey and exploration. This included an insightful walk through the village, which is dotted with petroglyphs, offering a deeper understanding of the region’s living heritage.
The second session welcomed esteemed dignitaries and guests who shared their thoughts on community involvement in heritage conservation. A key highlight was the tree plantation drive, symbolising a commitment to sustainable heritage practices. A guided interaction and open discussion further encouraged feedback and collaborative ideas for preserving the cultural treasures.
