DIGBOI: The deprived minor beneficiary under Priority Household Ration Card No. 181002817214 of the Tingrai Station area under Margherita Circle in Tinsukia district was finally delivered justice after the supply department took strong cognizance of the offence.

According to Pronamika Konwar, Assistant Director of Supply Department, the concerned FPS licence holder was summoned immediately after the publication of the news in The Sentinel and show cause notice issued after proper investigation. “We have cross checked the allegations and found it to be genuine following which an undertaking was sought in writing besides rendering of a warning to be cautious while distributing the rightful share of the poor beneficiaries,” added the official who has also been the in-charge of the Sub Divisional Public Relation Officer. “Following my strong directives to the erring FPS agent, rice for two months was given away to one of the five beneficiaries,” said the official. “We would not hesitate to cancel the licence in case we receive further complaints of similar nature against the FPS holder,” assured the official. “We have only three officials looking after their respective jurisdictions in Margherita CO District wherein certain lapses might escape our attention but with the proactive coordination and cooperation from the media fraternity, we hope to serve the people more effectively and with zero tolerance to such perverted activities whatsoever,” said the official during an interaction with the Sentinel on Tuesday afternoon. It may be recalled here that one of the beneficiaries Jayanta Gogoi residing in Ward No. 5 of the Tingrai Station area under Tingrai Panchayat had alleged that his minor son was deprived of his rightful dues under PDS consecutively for last the two months of January and February 2025. The Sentinel English Daily had carried the news earlier to this effect on February 12, highlighting the allegations of the affected agrarian beneficiary. Meanwhile, the family members upon being given justice, have expressed gratitude towards the supply officials of the Margherita CO District.
