DHEKIAJULI: The serene premises of the Dhiraimajuli Siddhidatri Durga Temple in Dhiraimajuli, under Dhekiajuli Co-District, transformed into a divine hub of spirituality as the Shrimad Devi Bhagavat Mahapurana Gyan Mahayagya commenced today with great fervour. The grand event, set to span nine days, was inaugurated with sacred rituals and a vibrant Kalah Yatra, drawing devotees from diverse communities.
The first day’s proceedings began at 8:30 AM today with the hoisting of the Dharmadhwaja (religious flag), symbolizing the invocation of divine blessings. This was followed by the Kalah Yatra, a ceremonial procession where nearly a thousand men and women, representing various linguistic and ethnic groups, marched in unison to the nearby Belsiri River. After performing traditional worship, the devotees filled kalashas (sacred pitchers) with holy water and carried them back to the temple amidst devotional chants, creating an ethereal spiritual ambiance.
Dignitaries and devotees united in faith, the Kalah Yatra witnessed the presence of prominent figures, including Lalit Chetri, President of the Temple Management Committee, Jeevan Pathak, Working President, Indra Phayel, General Secretary, Debraj Oja, a revered teacher, Ganesh Nirola, Tirtha Phayel, Chandrashekhar Phayel, Village Head Joy Dangal, Secretary of the Village Defence Force. Their participation underscored the collective spirit of devotion and unity among the attendees.
The Mahayagya is set to feature daily recitations and enlightening discourses on the Devi Bhagavat, enriching devotees with spiritual wisdom. The grand finale on Ram Navami will include Kumari Puja (worship of young girls as embodiments of the Divine Mother), Rajhawan Upanayan (mass sacred thread ceremony), and Homa Yajna (auspicious fire ritual).
The organizing committee emphasized that this Mahayagya is not just for local devotees but a universal prayer for global peace and prosperity. Renowned scholar Pandit Bishwanath Shastri will serve as the chief orator, delivering profound discourses on the Devi Bhagavat Mahapurana. Daily sessions will run from 10 AM to 2 PM, followed by soul-stirring kirtan-bhajan performances.
The temple committee, led by President Lalit Chetri, Working President Jeevan Pathak, and General Secretary Indra Phayel, extended a heartfelt invitation to all devotees to participate in this divine congregation and contribute to its success.
