SILCHAR: Devotees have been flocking to the Mahadev Baba Temple, located atop the Bhuvan Pahar in Assam's Cachar district, as Maha Shivratri 2025 draws near. The temple is bustling with spiritual activities just two days before the big festival.

In order to receive Lord Shiva's blessings, devotees are participating in rituals and prayers. As everyone gets ready for the auspicious night of Maha Shivratri, chants and the aroma of incense have filled the air.

Meanwhile, in Agartala, hotel and restaurant owners near the Tripura Sundari Temple are facing uncertainty due to the state government's plan to implement a strict vegetarian food policy in the area.

The government is preparing to issue an administrative directive, making vegetarian meals mandatory for all establishments around the temple. Finance Minister Pranajit Singha Roy emphasized that no illegal or unhygienic activities will be allowed near the sacred site.

The renovation work at the Tripura Sundari Temple is nearly complete, and Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to inaugurate the newly upgraded complex. After the inauguration, the sale of non-vegetarian food will be completely banned around the temple. The district administration, working with temple management, will soon announce the policy.

Earlier this month, Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha met with Prime Minister Modi in New Delhi to invite him to inaugurate the re-developed temple. The Chief Minister highlighted the temple’s cultural significance and symbolic value for the state.
