DIBRUGARH: The Dibrugarh Diocese Catholic Association expressed deep sorrow over the demise of His Holiness Pope Francis, describing him as a “spiritual luminary and tireless servant of God’s people.”

In a condolence message, the association paid tribute to the late pontiff’s unwavering commitment to faith, justice, and human dignity, which inspired millions worldwide.

“We join the global Catholic family in mourning the loss of a shepherd who embodied Christ’s teachings through humility and boundless love. His Holiness’ legacy of compassion and unity will forever guide the Church,” said Fr Cyril Purty, Laity Commissioner of the diocese. The association extended its condolences to the College of Cardinals, the Vatican, and Catholics worldwide, praying for the eternal repose of Pope Francis’ soul.

Mikel Purty, president of the association, stated, “In this moment of grief, we find solace in knowing that his life was a beacon of hope. We urge the faithful to uphold his vision of mercy and inclusivity.” Bruno Prakash Kondpan, Secretary, added, “His teachings transcended borders, touching lives in our own communities. We pray that the Holy Spirit comforts all who mourn his passing.”

The message concluded with a call for continued prayers as the Catholic world prepares to bid farewell to one of its most beloved leaders.
