Assam: Dibrugarh Police Arrest Two Drug Peddlers, Seize Suspected Heroin

Dibrugarh police on Monday evening apprehended two drug peddlers near Banipur Railway station in Dibrugarh and seized 10.87 grams of suspected heroin from their posession.

DIBRUGARH: Dibrugarh police on Monday evening apprehended two drug peddlers near Banipur Railway station in Dibrugarh and seized 10.87 grams of suspected heroin from their posession.

The drug peddlers has been identified as- Bishal Chetry alias Bubu and Sohail Khan.

After getting specific information, a police team from Dibrugarh police station launched an operation near Banipur Railway station and apprehended two persons with 10.87 grams of suspected heroin.

Both has been booked under relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985.  The drug peddlers were sent to jail after interrogation. The heroin costs Rs 8 lakh 19 thousand approximately in market.

“Drug peddling has become a source of income for unemployed youths in Dibrugarh. The drug addicts are mostly involved in drug peddling to earn a quick money. In recent times, many youths associated with drug peddling were arrested,” said a police source.
