HAFLONG: The dilapidated condition of the N Leikul village approach road has caused serious concern among the villagers as well as the tourists who happened to be there for Borail trekking and to enjoy the natural beauty of the Borail hills.
Nuton Leikul, popularly known as N Leikul, is situated at the lap of the majestic Borail range and is famous for being the starting point of Borail trekking, waterfalls, natural sightseeing, and, above all, the hospitality of the N Leikul villagers. The village has 107 houses with about 700 people, but due to the dilapidated condition of the approach road, the villagers have to face utter difficulties.
The approach road, which is only 400 or 500 meters long, was blacktopped ten years ago, but no repairs were made, thus the damage is increasing daily.
One of the very affable Gaon Bura of Dima Hasao, L. J. Singson said, “We have been suffering a lot due to the dilapidated condition of the approach road for so long. We have urged the concerned department and the authority concerned to repair the road before Christmas so that people could celebrate Christmas in a befitting manner this year.”
