DIBRUGARH: Dibrugarh police have arrested two individuals, Anil Kabri and Deepak Sahu, for their involvement in an IPL betting racket. The duo was apprehended from the Seujpur area under the Gabrupathar police outpost.

Police seized their mobile phones and a vehicle with registration number AS 23AE7789 from their possession. According to Dibrugarh SP Rakesh Reddy, the investigation is ongoing, and the duo was operating the IPL betting racket in a coordinated manner.

Sources revealed that middlemen were enticing youngsters with the lure of money to participate in IPL betting, drawing in individuals without knowledge of cricket. The racket is believed to have been operating for some time, potentially linked to a wider network of online betting.

Meanwhile, acting on a tip-off, an EGPD team from Basistha Police Station raided a flat at Lalmati Comfort Apartment, Jagaran Path, and busted an illegal betting and gambling den earlier in February.

Arrested betting gang members are Jakir Khan (27), Amin Rezaul Korim (23), Saiful Islam (25), Mizanur Rahman (24), and Rafizul Rahaman (24). Several items were seized.

There are 14 ATM cards from various banks, 10 high-end mobile phones linked to betting apps, two vehicles—a Hyundai i20 Sport & a Pulsar RS200—and ICICI Bank checkbooks and other incriminating materials.
