Assam: DIG Parthasarathi Mahanta’s Film To Be Showcased At Northeast Film Festival

GUWAHATI: The movies "Bohag Bohag Mon" and "Lachit the Fighter" by Assam Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police Partha Sarathi Mahanta will be shown at the Northeast Film Festival in 2023.

Partha Sarathi Mahanta is the director of both movies, and the film festival will take place in Mumbai on March 25 and 26.

Mahanta recently earned the best director award for his animated documentary biography Lachit, The Warrior, and his film Hargila took first place in the best documentary film category at the Jaipur International Film Festival.

It is important to note that Hargila has screened at about seven film festivals, including the Tagore International Film Festival, the Delhi International Film Festival, the Pune Film Festival, and the Mumbai Short Film Festival.

In addition, Mahanta received the best director prize for Lachit, The Warrior, an animation biography. Amupam Mahanta, on the other hand, won the top prize for creative directing for the same movie.

The Sikkim Film Board, in partnership with Find Studioz, is organizing the North East Film Festival 2023 in Mumbai in an effort to highlight content producers from India's NE states.

The festival, which is sponsored by the National Film Development Corporation (NFDC), is being held in Mumbai with the goal of giving the North-Eastern States' creative talent the most exposure to the mainstream industry. Since Mumbai is the nation's center for entertainment, some of the top players in the sector will be invited to take part in this festival.

With a goal of bridging the creative talents of the region with the mainstream industry and showcasing the North East in terms of both spectacular geographical beauty and content, the festival seeks to support and promote films from the North Eastern Region across genres, cultures, and languages.

This will entice filmmakers to not only film in the area but also to use more content adapted from local stories.

The Assam Government made a major reshuffle in the Assam Police recently. Joint Commissioner of Guwahati Police Partha Sarathi Mahanta (Armed Police) during the process was transferred and posted as the Deputy Inspector General of Police (Administration).
