KOKRAJHAR: Dipen Boro and Khanindra Basumatary were retained as the President and General Secretary of the All-Bodo Students Union (ABSU) in the extended delegate sitting held at Jwhwlao Nileswar Brahma Auditorium Hall, Bodoland University in Kokrajhar on Tuesday. They promised to work to fulfil the long-term commitment of the ABSU to achieve its goal.

The adjourned delegate session of the 57th annual conference of ABSU held at Jwhwlao Nileswar Brahma Auditorium at Bodoland University on Tuesday resolved to organize training to all the workers and volunteers of the ABSU towards maintaining discipline, carry forward the principles and ideology of Bodofa UN Brahma for building a vibrant Bodo community, and enhance voluntary service to the community with commitment and dedication.

The ABSU resolved to maintain good behaviour and sound health through physical training including Yoga, Gym, and martial arts & BMI for personnel and volunteers during disasters like flood and erosion, cyclone, earthquake, man- animal conflict, enhancing self-sustainability and personal skill.

 ABSU president Dipen Boro said that there will be an organizational training camp named ‘Bodofa Camp’ for every worker from time to time. He said that the union will constitute a committee to examine the constitution of the ABSU to increase the term of the members of ABSU to 3 years from existing 2 years. “After successful publication of the first volume of ‘ABSU History’ from 1967 to 1993, ABSU has decided to publish the next volume of history of the ABSU from 1993 to 2025 and constitute a committee,” he said, adding that the ABSU has decided to observe June 5 as ‘World Environment Day’ by planting more than 1 lakh saplings. He also said that the union has decided to observe the ‘Bodoland Martyrs Day’ on June 12 in Bijni Sub-Division under Chirang district.

On the implementation of Bodo Accord, 2020, Boro said that the ABSU had resolved to put intensive pressure on the Government of India and Government of Assam to expedite speedy implementation of the remaining part of the Bodo Peace Accord along with bringing the 125th Amendment Bill of the sixth schedule of Indian Constitution and Article 280 to streamline the financial resources of the sixth schedule.
