KOKRAJHAR: The Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan was formally launched on Thursday in Kokrajhar. The inauguration of the programme was done by Lawrence Islary, MLA of Kokrajhar East (ST) constituency, and Jiron Basumatary, MLA of Gossaigaon constituency. The primary objective of this campaign is to strengthen grassroots agricultural development and to establish direct communication with farmers.
As per the directives of the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Government of India, the meetings under this initiative are being organized at various locations across all Development Blocks of the district. Scheduled to run from May 29 to June 12, the campaign is being implemented by Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Kokrajhar, in collaboration with Assam Agricultural University and the Departments of Agriculture, Veterinary, Dairy Development, Fisheries, along with the Assam State Rural Livelihoods Mission (ASRLM).
The aim of the Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan is to create opportunities for face-to-face interaction among farmers, scientists, and officials from different departments, to identify and resolve issues faced by farmers. Another key objective of the campaign is to raise awareness about various developmental schemes offered by the stakeholder departments.
It may be mentioned that the inaugural session of the programme was held in the meeting hall of the East Maligaon VCDC Office in Bishmuri, Kokrajhar. The event was attended by District Agriculture Officer Diganta Thapa, ASRLM Scheme Officer Bichitra Birja Narzary, and a large number of local farmers.
