Assam: District Development Committee meet reviews development progress in Kokrajhar

KOKRAJHAR: The District Development Committee (DDC) meeting for January, 2025 was held Friday at the District Commissioner’s office in Kokrajhar, under the chairmanship of DC, Masanda M. Pertin.

At the outset of the meeting, DC Masanda Pertin felicitated the meritorious candidates from Kokrajhar who cleared the APSC CCE this year, namely Manjit Basumatary and Shrijeet Basumatary. As Shrijeet Basumatary could not attend the meeting, his brother accepted the honour on his behalf.

DC Pertin conducted a detailed review of ongoing development schemes in the district, emphasizing the importance of adhering to deadlines and ensuring efficient project completion. She called on officials to maintain steady progress, address bottlenecks proactively, and strive for maximum impact through well- coordinated efforts. The discussions covered several key areas, including the promotion of the Bodoland Handloom Mission, with a particular focus on Eri Silk, which is widely popular in Southeast Asian markets. The DC emphasised the importance of efficiency and openness in the process to guarantee that ration card benefits reach the legitimate recipients.

Healthcare initiatives, such as enhancing childbirth care, strategies to improve student attendance in schools, facilitating wider AAPAR ID registrations, and implementing effective measures to combat diseases like typhoid, among others were also deliberated upon in the meeting. Additionally, DC Pertin urged officials to exceed minimal target coverages and aim for comprehensive outcomes in all schemes.

The meeting was attended by ADCs, SDO(C) Parbatjhora, and Heads of Departments from various sectors.
