NAGAON: A District Level Committee meeting on Mission Shakti was held on 19th February 2025 under the leadership of District Commissioner, Nagaon, Narendra Kumar Shah, IAS.

The meeting took place at the DC Conference Hall in Nagaon. It was organized by the Office of the District Social Welfare Officer, Nagaon, in collaboration with the District Administration.

Several important officials attended the meeting, including Superintendent of Police Nagaon, Swapnaneel Deka, APS; CEO of Zilla Parishad, Manoj Kumar Shikaria, ACS; Additional District Commissioners, Pankaj Kumar Nagbanshi and Debahuti Bora, ACS; Deputy Superintendent of Police, Yangchen Doma Bhutia, IPS, and other relevant officials. The meeting discussed various aspects of the Mission Shakti program.

Meanwhile, in September 2024, a capacity-building training programme was held at the State Institute of Panchayat and Rural Development (SIPRD) Office in Biswanath Chariali.

Organized by ‘Sankalp: a Hub for Empowerment of Women,’ the event aimed to empower frontline workers, including Anganwadi workers, ASHA workers, and school teachers.

The programme focused on educating participants about women-related laws, government schemes, and the components of Mission Shakti.

The training began with an introduction to the objectives and significance of the programme. Sessions included detailed discussions on critical laws like the Domestic Violence Act and Dowry Prohibition Act.

Participants also learned about Mission Shakti, covering aspects like women’s safety, economic empowerment, and legal/social empowerment.

The final session focused on the vital roles of Anganwadi workers, ASHA workers, and school teachers in implementing these laws and schemes, with an emphasis on creating awareness and assisting women in their communities. Resource person Monali Beniya, District Mission Coordinator, led the sessions, attended by 120 participants.
