TEZPUR: The monthly meeting of the District Road Safety Committee (DRSC) was held today under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Ankur Bharali, in the Conference Hall of the DC’s Office, Sonitpur. The meeting was attended by Superintendent of Police Barun Purkayastha, Additional District Commissioner Twahir Alam, Additional Superintendent of Police Moushumi Kalita, and other concerned members of the DRSC. Opening the meeting, the District Commissioner reiterated the importance of the meeting in implementing road safety measures and emphasized its core objective of minimizing road accidents in the district.
The committee reviewed the monthly iRAD data on road accidents and discussed strategies for mitigation. Addressing the Joint Director of Health Services, the DC instructed the department to ensure the training of designated officials from health centres and hospitals within two days.
These officials will be responsible for uploading and updating data on the iRAD and other relevant platforms. The meeting also included a discussion on the effective implementation of the Hit and Run Motor Accident Compensation Scheme 2022. The representative from the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) was directed to identify and report accident-prone spots and vulnerable zones within their jurisdiction in the district.
Further, the onboarding of all stakeholders including road-owning agencies onto the iRAD platform was discussed. The District Commissioner urged all departments to remain vigilant and proactive in implementing road safety measures to prevent avoidable loss of life due to accidents.
