Assam: Tragic accident claims one, injures several in Hojai district

KHERONI: A tragic accident occurred on Sunday night in Khiring-Khiring, under the Kaki Police Station in Hojai district, during a marriage procession. The procession was enroute to Bakalia from Kheroni of West Karbi Anglong district, when a vehicle, driven by an intoxicated driver, collided with the band party.

Kishore Kumar Chauhan, aged 24, a resident of Cherapathar under Kheroni Police Station of West Karbi Anglong district, succumbed to his injuries, while seven others were severely injured and are currently undergoing medical treatment. The Kaki Police confirmed that the driver was under the influence of alcohol, which led to the accident. An investigation has been initiated to further examine the circumstances of the incident.
