Assam: District Road Safety Committee meeting held in Sonitpur

TEZPUR: The District Road Safety Committee (DRSC) meeting was held on Friday at the conference hall of the District Commissioner’s Office, Sonitpur. Chaired by the Co-District Commissioner of Naduar Co-District Raj Boruah, the meeting focused on several critical issues related to road safety in the district.

In his opening remarks, Boruah emphasized the importance of accurate and proper data entry in platforms such as CCTNS, iRAD, and DRSC Assam for a correct assessment of road safety parameters, including accident fatalities and injury data.

Superintending Engineer of PWRD, Sonitpur and Biswanath Road Circle, Tezpur, and Member Secretary of DRSC, Sonitpur Ajit Kumar Medhi informed the gathering that designating a notified official from each concerned department for data collation and entry would streamline the process, especially in iRAD and DRSC platforms. Following the Co-District Commissioner’s directives, officials present at the meeting were given a demonstration of the iRAD and DRSC portals and sensitized about the data entry process.

Relevant stakeholder departments and offices, including the DC Office, SP Office, District Transport Office, District Health Services, Education, Engineering, and road-owning agencies, were asked to appoint a designated person for data collation and inform the DRSC accordingly. These departments were also directed to enumerate the road safety initiatives undertaken and submit an Action Taken Report (ATR) based on DRSC meetings in the next meeting.

Additionally, Boruah urged stakeholder departments to propose practical ideas and leverage digital media effectively to raise awareness about road safety measures and responsible behaviour. Special emphasis was placed on the effective implementation of the Chota Cop initiative in the district.

The meeting was attended by Additional SP (Security & Intelligence) Satkhokai Changsan, the District Transport Officer, and key officials from various stakeholder departments of the DRSC committee.
