KOKRAJHAR: In a decisive step towards strengthening public health measures, the first District Task Force meeting for the Financial Year 2025–26 on Acute Encephalitis Syndrome (AES), Japanese Encephalitis (JE) and other vector-borne diseases was convened on Friday at the Conference Hall of the District Commissioner’s Office. The meeting, chaired by Chirang District Commissioner Jatin Bora, brought together key stakeholders from various departments of the district to coordinate an integrated, district-wide prevention strategy.
Opening the meeting, Dr Rejaul Karim, Joint Director of Health Services, emphasized the need for early preparedness and cross-sector collaboration to tackle the annual rise in vector-borne diseases. Dr Dwigendra Ramchiary, District Malaria Officer in charge and District Surveillance Officer, presented current data on malaria cases in the district, while Dr Gayatri Sarma Baruah, VBD Consultant, delivered a comprehensive presentation on AES, JE and other vector-borne diseases, underlining both persistent challenges and practical solutions.
