TANGLA: The gruesome double murder of two school going siblings in Tangla town of Udalguri district has left a deep scar on the citizens as the cries for justice continue to grow louder with demands for justice continuing to echo across the state. Outraged citizens, along with the victims’ family, have intensified their calls for an impartial investigation into the horrific crime and ensure a thorough probe and bring all culprits to book and also bring the maternal uncle and mother of the accused to face the court of law. Protests, led by the grieving mother of the victims, Geeta Sarmah were staged in front of Tangla Police Station on Monday, demanding accountability and swift action against all those involved. Protesters chanted slogans urging for an impartial investigation and the harshest punishment for all those involved. The heinous case of kidnapping and murder, which claimed the lives of Gaurav Sharma (13) and Kaushik Sharma (12), has sparked a wave of solidarity among residents, who are determined to see justice delivered and ensure that the accused faces fast track trial and capital punishment of the accused.

The last rites of the two siblings, held on Monday, became a somber gathering, as hundreds of mourners paid their respects and joined the family in their quest for justice. Public anger is mounting, with community leaders, activists, and organizations like Bir Lachit Sena , Raijor Dal,AKRSU stepping forward to demand transparency in the investigation. The citizens along with the stakeholders of the society amidst an atmosphere of grief and anger, gathered in Tangla Chariali to pay their tribute to the bereaved brothers. Addressing the protesters Additional Superintendent of Police (Crime), Udalguri, Muzzafar Hussain and Bhergaon SDPO, Durga Kingkar Sarma assured the gathering that police along with forensic experts are leaving no stone unturned to deliver justice to the grieving family and ensuring that all those involved face the consequences. The police officials further assured of delivering the charge sheet on time and prepare a watertight case against all those involved and ensure that justice is prevailed.
