GAURISAGAR: While some youngsters are enjoying life with their father’s hard-earned money, others are struggling to survive while building the foundation of their lives. Despite a strong desire to obtain higher education, they have to restrain their spirit and willingness due to financial problems. One such young woman is Priyakshi Chetia of Sontalisiga village on the outskirts of Gaurisagar in Sivasagar district.

Priyakshi, the eldest daughter of Dipak Chetia and Aparajita Chetia, passed her HSLC and HS (Commerce) examinations with good scores and enrolled for higher study in Sibsagar Commerce College. However, Priyakshi’s father, who worked as a driver, suddenly injured his left leg in an accident. After the accident, the family was pushed into darkness. Finding no other way, Priyashi decided to work as a food delivery agent for Zomato in Sivasagar and rode her bicycle to deliver food.

Priyakshi, who has dressed like a man since childhood, cut her hair like a man and likes to ride a man’s bicycle, found the job of a delivery-person coming easily to her. While doing this, she was also employed as a delivery agent with Ekart Sivasagar. After working in Sivasagar for four months, she moved to Gaurisagar. Priyakshi, who works as a delivery agent in EKart alongside men, also has a dream. An NCC “C” certificate holder, she is happy with her job and is determined to support herself with the money she receives as a delivery agent, and to graduate through distance education programmes and get a job in the central government in the future. We wish Priyakshi’s dream comes true.
