Assam: Driver Killed in Collision Between Bolero and Truck in Lakhimpur

A tragic accident in Lakhimpur's Naoboisa area claimed the life of Basanta Bora, a resident of Teok, Jorhat, after his Bolero collided with a truck while traveling to Arunachal Pradesh.

LAKHIMPUR: A tragic road accident occurred in the Naoboisa area of Lakhimpur on Saturday, resulting in the death of one individual.

The deceased, identified as Basanta Bora, a resident of Teok, Jorhat, was the driver of a Bolero that collided with a truck.

Basanta was en route to Arunachal Pradesh when the accident took place. Authorities are investigating the cause of the crash.

Meanwhile, ealier this week, one person was killed and several others were injured after a car hit a motorcycle at Laluka Gaon area in Dibrugarh on Tuesday night.

According to reports, the people who were inside the car, including the driver, had consumed alcohol. “Two persons were going home on a motorcycle when an overspeeding car suddenly hit the bike. One person was killed during the collision. The injured were admitted to a hospital,” said a local resident.

Assam Police had taken strict measures against drink and drive, but still, some people were driving cars after consuming alcohol.

Similarly, the start of 2025 was overshadowed by tragedy as a fatal road accident claimed one life and left four others critically injured. A group of five friends and family members from the Uttar Krishnapur area of Silchar had set out to celebrate the New Year near the Borail Hills in Dima Hasao.

While traveling from Silchar to Haflong, their vehicle, a Bolero, lost control near Ditokcherra on the Silchar-Haflong road and collided head-on with an approaching truck.
