SILCHAR: In another successful episode of its continued drive against the drugs syndicate, Cachar Police seized a huge quantity of banned narcotic substances worth Rs 6.7 crores. SP Numol Mahatta on Tuesday said that a vehicle was intercepted near Silchar bypass and two persons, namely Hussain Ahmed Laskar and ?Jainul Hussain Laskar were arrested. 114 gm heroin and 20000 yaba tablets were seized from them. The price of the narcotic substances in the black market is about Rs 6.7 crores, Mahatta claimed. He further informed that during the seizure, a Drug Detection Kit was used which confirmed the substances as heroin and amphetamine. In the preliminary investigation, it came to light that the psychotropic substances had been illegally transported from Aizawl, the SP added.
