SIVASAGAR: In a significant step towards strengthening maternal and child nutrition services, Assam Education Minister and Minister for Welfare of Plain Tribes and Backward Classes, and Guardian Minister for Sivasagar District, Dr Ranoj Pegu, distributed smartphones to Anganwadi workers under the state's 'Nutrition Tracker' initiative on Monday.
The distribution event was organized through the initiative of the District Social Welfare Officer, Sivasagar, in collaboration with the Sivasagar District Administration. The aim was to digitize and streamline the service delivery of Anganwadi centers across the district by enabling real-time data entry and monitoring through the Nutrition Tracker mobile application.
The event held at the Sukafa Conference Hall in the Office of the District Commissioner, Sivasagar, was attended by the respective MLAs of the district, District Commissioner Aayush Garg, District Development Commissioner, Additional District Commissioner (Social Welfare), Assistant Commissioners, District Social Welfare Officer, functionaries of the Poshan Abhiyaan, Prime Minister Matru Vandana Yojana (PMMVY) officers, Child Development Project Officers (CDPOs), representatives from the District Women Empowerment Center and hundreds of Anganwadi workers.
Dr Pegu stated that the initiative aimed to improve transparency, efficiency, and monitoring of nutritional services provided to children and mothers. With the use of smartphones, Anganwadi workers can now track growth metrics, update records instantly and ensure better service delivery to beneficiaries.
