DHUBRI: After cancellation and withdrawal of nomination papers, 23 candidates are left in the fray in three assembly constituencies - Dhubri, Gauripur and Golokganj, which will go on polls on April 6

Dhubri Deputy Commissioner-cum- Dhubri district Returning Officer, Deba Kumar Kalita in a press briefing in his conference hall held on Monday evening, informed that after scrutiny and withdrawal of nominations, 23 candidates' nominations were found valid and they would be contesting in the election.

"As March 22 was the last date of withdrawal, 7 candidates each from Dhubri and Golokganj while 9 from Gauripur LACs are left in fray. I have called a meeting with all the candidates tomorrow to appraise them about the model code of conduct and also to urge them to adhere to COVID-19 protocol while campaigning," Kalita further informed.

Replying to a question from media persons on the ceiling of expenditure for a candidate, Dhubri District Election Office Partha Pratim Barman informed that a candidate contesting in this assembly poll could spend up to Rs. 30.80 lakh.
