Assam: Electoral Roll Observer visits Golaghat

GOLAGHAT: MS Monivannan, Commissioner & Secretary to the Government of Assam, Commissioner, Upper Assam Division, Jorhat and Electoral Roll Observer of Upper Assam Division recently visited Golaghat district and took stock of the ongoing updation process of electoral roll and Special Summary Revision, 2023. He held a meeting with the DEO, ERO, AERO of Golaghat election district at the conference hall of office of the Deputy Commissioner, Golaghat.

In the meeting, he asked DEO and all concerned to share the updated BLO list with the political parties and also requested the political parties to appoint BLAs, if vacant so that both can work in close coordination in the field and every probable claim or objection is received from the citizens. He asked the DEO to conduct adequate SVEEP activities and asked the political parties also to contribute their part in disseminating the message. He asked everyone to link their Aadhaar with the Electoral Roll data and urged them to spread the message to ensure authentication of the roll and to remove possible duplication.

In the meeting, revision timeline was intimated, stressing the fact that all should submit claims and objections by December 8. Interacting with the BLOs, he asked them if there was any issue that they want to raise and whether they have received the draft roll and are getting the necessary support of the election office. Everyone replied to this with affirmation. He also visited 3 polling station locations under Bokakhat and Golaghat election districts on Saturday and verified how claims and objections are being received by the BLOs.
