BARPETA: A shocking incident occurred at Datirbari Koragari Higher Secondary School Examination Center in Assam's Barpeta where a fake candidate was caught giving the HSLC exam using a fake admit card.

The accused, identified as Harunur Rashid, a former student of Harendra Chitra College, allegedly manipulated his date of birth to appear younger aiming to use the fake credentials to qualify for a police recruitment interview. Rashid reportedly managed to appear for four subjects before being caught, raising concerns about systemic loopholes and possible collusion among officials.

Investigations have linked Mohir Uddin, the headmaster of Koragari Pathar Regional High School, to the fraud, hinting at a bigger network of cheating. There is also doubt of insider involvement, as Arup Das, a professor at Harendra Chitra College and Rashid's former teacher, was on duty as an examiner at the exam center.

This incident has reignited scrutiny over the examination center, which had previously faced allegations of facilitating cheating. Notably, a similar case of a fake candidate being arrested was reported at the same center two years ago.

Authorities are now under pressure to strengthen verification processes and make the examination system more transparent. The investigation is still going on, and legal action against those involved is likely in the coming days.
