BAJALI: The Assam government has suspended Masum Yusuf Ahmed, (Assam Civil Service) ACS, for allegedly engaging in private employment despite being a full-time government employee.
A report by the Chief Minister's Special Vigilance Cell stated that Ahmed, the Circle Officer of Bajali Revenue Circle, broke the Assam Civil Services (Conduct) Rules, 1965 by working in a private job while serving in his government post.
Based on the report, the Governor of Assam has ordered his suspension with immediate effect in the interest of public service. The order was issued following the withdrawal of his services from the Revenue and Disaster Management Department on February 24, 2025.
The suspension was carried out under Rule 6(1) of the Assam Services (Discipline & Appeal) Rules, 1964, pending departmental proceedings. During this period, Ahmed's headquarters will remain in Guwahati. Further investigation into the matter is underway.
Meanwhile, earlier this week, the Secondary Education Department had suspended Ashok Choudhury, headmaster of Gasbari High School, for negligence in conducting examinations, following a significant lapse on the first day of the HSLC Examination 2025.
The suspension order, issued by Secondary Education Director Mamata Hojai, had come after delays in the distribution of question papers at the school’s designated examination centre. The decision had been implemented with immediate effect to prevent further disruptions.
