MARGHERITA: A family in Margherita has accused a doctor of carelessness, leading to the death of an unborn child due to medical negligence.

The incident occurred at Margherita Civil Hospital, where a pregnant woman, Kulsuma Khatun, lost her baby before birth. The family accused that the infant's death was a result of the doctor’s inadequate medical care.

The residents of Margherita are now advised to exercise caution while consulting doctors, particularly for pregnant women. They have been advised to think twice before seeking medical care to prevent such tragic outcomes.

Kulsuma Khatun was admitted to the Margherita Civil Hospital on Monday evening and was under the supervision of Dr. Alam. According to the report, Dr. Alam advised her family to transfer her to a private nursing home.

When Kulsuma’s condition deteriorated, Dr. Alam recommended transferring her to Dibrugarh for further treatment. However, the family took her to the other nursing home, where the mother’s life was saved, but unfortunately the infant did not survive.

The family accused the hospital while Dr. Alam claimed the child was already dead in the womb before admitting her to another nursing home. The family stated that Dr. Alam had been treating Kulsuma throughout her pregnancy, resulting in the family filing a FIR seeking justice for the death of the child and demanding severe punishment.
