KOKRAJHAR: A major fire erupted on the night of February 24 at Dotma Bazaar in Assam's Kokrajhar district, causing significant damage to property. The fire started at the house of Manna Sarkar, a small-scale entrepreneur, in the second section of the busy market area.

Local authorities reacted quickly to the distress call, arriving within minutes of receiving the alert. Firefighters arrived at the scene within 30 minutes and worked hard to contain the fire. Their quick response was instrumental in stopping the fire from spreading further in the crowded market, possibly saving it from a worse fate.

In spite of the successful containment operation, the fire caused heavy financial losses to Manna Sarkar. A huge stock of plastic and steel furniture kept at his house was totally gutted in the fire.
