LAKHIMPUR: Amid the adverse situation of COVID-19 pandemic, the first wave of flash flood affected a total of 31,959 people living in 18 revenue villages under three Revenue Circles (RCs) of Lakhimpur till Monday. However, flood receded from 6 revenue villages on Tuesday.

On this day, a total of 12 revenues villages under 2 RCs were reeling under flood. The affected villages are- Dharmapur Block, Ahmedpur Block, No. 1 Dharmapur, Kutubpur, No. 3 Dharmapur, No. 4 Dharmapur, No. 2 Kehutoli, Fatehpur under Bihpuriya RC and Gosanibari, Chengelijan, No. 1 Gelahati and No. 2 Gelahati under Naoboicha RC. Flood receded from Dhekiajuli, Islampur, No. 3 Islampur, Niz Laluk Garhmur under Bihpuriya RC and Amtola PGR under North Lakhimpur RC. The flood caused by River Shingara has kept Gosanibari, Chengelijan, No. 1 Gelahati and No. 2 Gelahati villages inundated for a week. Flood caused by River Gabharu also receded from Dighpukhuri, Sonapur, No. 2 Sonapur, Ranabari and Roudung Borpothar villages under Naoboicha RC. The flood of the river washed away a 50-metre stretch of a Panchayat Bundh at Bishnupur village on Sunday.
