Assam Floods: Over 7,350 people affected in Golaghat district

GOLAGHAT: Amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, the people under Dergaon, Khumtai and Bokakhat revenue circles in Golaghat district are facing the fury of flood. Most of the villages in Golaghat district have been submerged by flood water and people and animals are taking shelter on the roads and on the highlands.

According to official records, over 7,350 people of 57 villages under Khumtai, Dergaon and Bokakhat revenue circles in Golaghat district have been affected by floods due to rising water of the Brahmaputra.

In Golaghat district, the water level of the Brahmaputra and Dhansiri rivers has also increased. Ten villages in Khumtai revenue circle, 31 villages in Bokakhat and 16 villages in Dergaon revenue circle have been submerged by flood water. Similarly, 3,860 big and small animals have also been affected by flood in Golaghat district.
