Assam: Forester caught red-handed while receiving bribe in Darrang district

The sleuths of the VAC wing of Assam Police caught one forest employee red-handed while he was receiving an amount as a bribe.

MANGALDAI: The sleuths of the Vigilance and Anti-Corruption (VAC) wing of Assam Police on Saturday morning caught one forest employee red-handed while he was receiving an amount as a bribe. The arrested forest person is Aminul Islam – a Forester 1 of Kuruwa Range Forest Office in Darrang district. The VAC, on receipt of a specific complaint, laid a trap in front of a petrol depot on NH 15 at Bijulibari near Sipajhar and arrested Aminul Islam while he was receiving an amount of Rs 5,000. The arrested forest employee has allegedly been demanding an amount of Rs 30,000 per month from the owners of dumpers and trucks on a monthly basis. He is a resident of Karimchowk in Mangaldai Town.
