
DONGKAMUKAM: The parish priest of Satgaon, Father CA John laid the foundation stone for the 27th edition of the 100-drum Wangala Festival at Dinesh Sangma LP playground, some 10 km away from Dongkamukam, West Karbi Anglong, organized by the Karbi Anglong Anchalik Cultural Society. He wished that the event would be very successful
Wangala is the most significant festival of the Garos celebrated in the month of October or November to remember their god ‘Misi Saljong’ whom they believe to be the god of food, drink etc.. Without dedicating the first obtained fruit to ‘Misi Saljong’, they never eat. Every year, the Wangala Fest is celebrated from November 5 to November 7 and the Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) gives restricted holiday on November 7.
