MARGHERITA: A shocking incident of violence was reported at Bargolai Bazaar under Margherita police station on Wednesday morning as four women belonging to a single family were left with severe injuries. The attack by three men took place at around 7:30 AM when Renu Devi was outside her home drying clothes.

The victims were attacked with sharp iron rods, bamboo sticks, and kicked mercilessly, leaving them severely injured.

What started as a minor tussle with the neighbors, Aftab Alam (Barka), Zulfiqar Alam (Nanki), and Azaad Alam (Mangru), turned into a gruesome attack. The daughters of Renu Devi, Neha Kumari Sah, Sandhya Kumari Sah, and Kareena Kumari Sah, were also attacked during this time, in which sharp iron rods and bamboo sticks were used.

She was taken to the Margherita Civil Hospital for primary treatment and then referred to the Tinsukia Civil Hospital for further treatment. Although a First Information Report (FIR) was filed on the day of the crime at the Margherita police station, the culprits are still at large.

Raja Ram Sah, the husband of one of the victims, urged local authorities, including the Co-District Commissioner, Margherita, to take strict measures against the attackers.

The incident has triggered widespread outrage with Kailash Kumar Gupta, president of the All Assam Bhojpuri Parishad Central Committee, demanding immediate arrest of the suspects. Local people also demand stricter law enforcement so that such violent acts are prevented in the future.
