BOKAKHAT: Internationally acclaimed Assamese film ‘Jhankar’ is set to be released in cinemas across Assam on April 25. The film, which has garnered awards at the Berlin-Kitz International Film Festival, including Best Feature Film, Best Director, Best Music, and Best Child and Family-Friendly Film, will now reach local audiences, according to a press release issued by the film’s director Hem Chandra Bora and producer Dr Jayanti Sutiya.

The story and production are by Dr Jayanti Sutiya, with direction by Hem Chandra Bora and associate direction by Deepak Kumar Roy. The film’s music has been composed by Sadananda Gogoi. The lead roles are played by Rag Ainitam and Anindita Rudra. Supporting roles are portrayed by Dulal Roy, Reba Phukan, Rajiv Goswami, Tapajit Dattabara, and several other experienced and new actors. Child actors include Granthik Bora, Bipanchika Bora, Barnadhya Pratim Phukan, Dridhanshu Rudra Bora, among many others.

The film’s songs are penned by renowned lyricist Mrinal Kumar Choudhury and Hem Chandra Bora. Vocals have been contributed by Anindita Paul, Sadananda Gogoi, Dikshu Sharma, Gayatri Sharma, Dr Diganta Goswami, Tilak Newar, Shatabdi Khataniar, Niyanta Bharati, and several child artists. Jhankar has already become a topic of discussion among the educated and culturally aware circles, generating much anticipation ahead of its release.
