GOALPARA: A team from Goalpara police, headed by the Officer-in-Charge of Lakhipur Police Station, recovered stolen gold items from the accused, Nobir Uddin and Nur Uddin. The recovery is linked to Lakhipur PS case no. 15/25.

Meanwhile, in a major breakthrough, the Kaliabor sub-district police arrested four notorious cattle thieves from the Rupahihat Police Station area. The arrests were made possible due to a tip-off from a reliable source, despite concerns over the alleged inaction of the Rupahihat police administration.

A special police team, led by SDPO Kaliabor Shyamanta Sarma, collaborated with Jakhalabandha and Bagori Police to carry out a joint operation. On Saturday night, three cattle thieves—Nekibur Rahman and Mainul Haque from Gunamari, and Rinku Ahmed from Saidoria—were arrested. This operation marked the second significant breakthrough for Jakhalabandha Police in recent days.

In a separate operation, another cattle thief, Babul Hussain from Pub Gehua Chalchali, was apprehended by Kaliabor Police. The authorities also seized five stolen cattle heads from his possession, which had been taken from nearby households.

Police sources confirmed that further interrogations of the arrested thieves would be conducted, and a sustained campaign against cattle thefts would be launched in the region to prevent such crimes in the future. The arrests have brought a sense of relief to the local community, and police are determined to tackle cattle thefts with full force.
