DHUBRI: The golden jubilee celebration of the Assam College Librarians’ Association (ACLA) concluded with a two-day conference at Bilasipara College. The conference, which began on Saturday, featured a book procession, an open meeting, and a cultural programme.
During the conference, a new executive committee of the association was formed, with Dr Dhrubajit Das as Advisor, Dr Bibhuti Choudhury as President, Dr Gajendra Ballabh Choudhury as Working President, and Dr Nabajit Das and Gunin Dutta as Vice-Presidents.
Dr Kishor Sarma, Dr Manjula Baruah, and Biswajit Roy were appointed as Secretaries, while Dr Deepika Das became the Organizational Secretary and Dr Kishor Kalita became the Treasurer.
The new committee also includes Dr Ranjanjyoti Sarma, Dr Nirmali Chakraborty, Kankana Chakraborty, Bhagawati Narzary, Prasanta Kumar Bhattacharya, and former secretary Dr Jnanadeep Saikia as executive members.
The Indian Library Association’s convener Dr Haricharan Das, who was also the convener of the golden jubilee celebration and the 17th biennial conference, told The Sentinel that he hoped the new committee of the association would play a significant role in preserving, researching, and promoting the rich literary heritage of Assam.
