Assam Government's Litterateur Award to writer Sarat Chandra Chiring Phukan

DOOMDOOMA:  Sarat Chandra Chiring Phukan, a renowned writer from Tinsukia district, was awarded the Litterateur Award by Assam Government at a function  held on the occasion of the 93rd birth anniversary of noted writer late Homen Borgohain at Gauhati University (GU) on Saturday.

Chief minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarmah who attended the function as Chief Guest presented the award to him in presence of Education Minister Dr Ranoj Pegu and Vice-chancellor, GU Prof. Nonigopal Mahanta.  Sarant Chandra Chiring Phukan was among the 28 writers who received this Literally award consisting of a citation and cash amount of rupees fifty thousand to each.

Chiring Phukan who has already received the State Award for Meritorious Teacher, regularly writes for almost all newspapers and magazines of Assam. He was the Secretary of the Tinsukia District Xahitya Xabha and a member of the Central Committee of the Assam Xahitya Xabha.  Currently he is associated with the Tinsukia District Sahitya Sevi Mancha and has received many other awards and honours.
