TINSUKIA: The 100-day intensive campaign for the TB elimination under the National TB elimination programme was formally launched on Saturday at the premises of Tinsukia Civil Hospital by the District Commissioner Tinsukia, Swapneel Paul, in the presence of Ajay Kaila, executive director, IOCL, and Chinmoy Pathak, Additional District Commissioner (Health) Tinsukia. The campaign, which began on December 3, will continue till March 24, 2025.
Paul stated that this campaign aims to accelerate the fight against TB by improving case detection, reducing diagnostic delays, and enhancing treatment outcomes, particularly for vulnerable population. Spanning 347 districts across 33 states and union territories, the campaign represents a critical component of India’s strategy to eliminate TB and build a TB-free nation. A felicitation ceremony was also done by the chief guest for the representatives of IOCL, IMA Tinsukia, Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd, and Coal India Ltd for adopting TB patients across Tinsukia district as Nikshay Mitras. While IOCL has adopted 1299 TB patients in the whole of Tinsukia district, the Power Grid adopted 100, Coal India 1000 patients, and IMA has adopted 45 TB patients.
