Assam Govt Announces Paid Holiday On October 30 for Poll-Bound Constituencies

Assam: For the coming bye-election in Assam on 31st October, the Assam Government has declared a paid leave for the commercial establishments, shops, public entertainment sectors and all factories. The jurisdiction for the above-mentioned declaration comes under  Gossaigaon, Bhabanipur Tamulpur, Mariani, and Thowra, according to official notification.

A total number of voters, as large as 7,96,456 are eligible for their right to adult franchise for the upcoming Assam bye-elections for five assembly seats.

Because the legislative assembly in Assam has a total of 126 constituencies,. The BJP-led alliance is poised to establish the government for the second time, gaining 75 of the 126 seats, if the BJP crosses the magic number of 64 after this by-election, it will become the only dominant political party in the house and will be able to break free from the alliance with the UPPL and the Asom Gana Parishad if it so desires.

Because its representative, Union minister Sarbananda Sonowal, resigned from the assembly hours after the Election Commission released the poll date, bye-elections for the empty Majuli seat, which was left vacant for the AJP, have yet to be set.
