Directions have been issued for closing down classes from Class VI to VIII in those districts where the number of cases has crossed the 100 mark.

GUWAHATI: The Assam government has authorized all the Deputy Commissioners' and Chairman, DDMA to close down all educational institutions (govt & non-govt) from pre-primary to University levels along with hostels & coaching institutions for 15 days, as and when cumulative COVID-19 cases in the last 10 days exceed 300.

The notification read, -"In partial modification and a continuation of the earlier orders issued, the Government in Second, Education Department hereby authorizes the Deputy Commissioners of the Districts and Chairman, District Disaster Management Authority.

A close down all Educational Institutions (Govt and Non-Government) from Pre-primary section to University level along with Hostels and Coaching Institutions, for a period of 15 (fifteen) days, as and when the cumulative total number of positive COV1D cases during the last 10 (ten) days exceeds the 300 mark. However(9, Online mode of Education should be made available for the students.

On the other hand, directions have been issued for closing down of classes from Class Vi to VIII (both Govt. & Non-Govt.) in those districts where the Deputy Commissioner cum Chairman, DDMA, is satisfied that the number of active covid cases has crossed 100 mark.

Whereas, in view of the rising Covid positive cases in Sonitpur district and the present number of positive cases in the district currently being 616. Therefore, in partial modification of this office earlier order, Deputy Commissioner cum Chairman, DDMA, Sonitpur has declared all classes from Pre Primary up to Class VIII in all Educational Institutions (both Govt. & Non-Govt.) of Sonitpur district shall remain closed till 8th May 2021.

However, online classes have to be made available for the concerned students. This order will come into effect from the date of issue of this notification and shall remain in force until further orders.
