
GUWAHATI: In a major milestone for the state, the Assam government has received the Prime Minister's Award for Excellence in Public Administration 2024. The coveted award was given in the 'Innovation-state' category on April 21 during the Civil Services Day celebrations for the state's innovative education program, 'Shiksha Setu, Axom.'
The award was personally given by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, highlighting the initiative's contribution to the education sector.
Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma showed his pride over receiving the award and congratulated the hardworking team behind the initiative. He added that the recognition is a testament to Assam's dedication to strengthening its educational system.
The 'Shiksha Setu' application is a comprehensive digital platform that operates like a centralized database of crucial information regarding schools, students, and teachers. It is designed to make administrative tasks in the state easier, hence improving the quality of educational activity.
Also, Tinsukia district commissioner Swapneel Paul was awarded the Prime Minister's Award for Excellence in Public Administration 2024 in the category of "Holistic Development of Districts". Paul, an IAS officer belonging to the 2018 batch, was awarded by the PM at a function organized at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi, creating a record as the first DC from the Tinsukia district to have been awarded.
