
GUWAHATI: A significant reshuffle within its administrative ranks has been initiated by the Assam government. This initiative included transferring and assigning new roles to a total of twenty Indian Administrative Service (IAS) and Assam Civil Service (ACS) officers. Various key departments and districts across the state have been impacted through the sweeping changes.
Among the notable appointments, Monuj Kumar Baruah, an ACS officer currently holding the positions of Additional Secretary in the Science, Technology & Climate Change Department and Director of Guwahati Planetarium, has been entrusted with the responsibility of Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Zilla Parishad, Jorhat.
Similarly, Satish Chandra Thakuria, ACS, who was serving as Joint Secretary in the Tea Tribes & Adivasi Welfare Department, has been posted as the new CEO of Zilla Parishad, Sivasagar.
Further expanding the administrative changes at the district level, Monuranjan Payeng, ACS, previously the Additional Director at the Assam Administrative Staff College, has been transferred and appointed as the CEO of Zilla Parishad, Lakhimpur.
A directive has been issued by the state government for all the transferred officers to assume their new responsibilities with immediate effect. This extensive administrative reshuffle is being viewed as a strategic move by the Assam government to enhance the efficiency of its administrative machinery and ensure improved delivery of public services to the citizens across the state.
